Midwinterfeest / Midwinterfest

Ik probeer elke maand mee te doen aan de uitdaging bij Lavinia met hun stempels. Gewoon omdat ik de uitdagingen leuk vind en hun stempels en omdat ik vind dat ik die stempels ook moet gebruiken als ik er zoveel heb... Dus gisteren, (na een vroege start van de dag met het ophalen van het station van onze dochter de wereldreizigster), en heel veel wassen, ben ik er eens rustig voor gaan zitten om op de stempel donderdagmiddag weer iets te maken voor deze maands uitdaging. Dit keer is het thema: "Story time". Daar moest ik wel een tijdje over denken, maar uiteindelijk heb ik de muizen het midwinterfeest laten vieren:

I try to participate in Lavinia'smonthly challenge with their stamps. Simply because I like the challenges , their stamps, and because I think I should use them when I have so many... So yesterday (after an early start picking up our globe trotting daughter from the station) and a lot of laundry, I sat down to make something for the monthly challenge on the stamping thursday afternoon. This time the theme is "Story time". I had to think about it for a while, but in the end, I let the mice celevrate midwinter:

Gelliplate 4 blad en kat Gelliplate 4 Leaf and cat

Afgelopen donderdag had ik ook weer de Gelloplate achtergronden meegenomen die ik met de bladeren had gemaakt. En ik had een aantal al uit aquarelpapier uitgestanstte katten meegenomen. Op het moment dat ik deze in mijn tas deed had ik geen enkel idee wat ik daarmee wou maken, maar toen ik eenmaal wat dingen had gemaakt, heb ik een van de bontgekleurde Gelliplate achtergronden genomen en heb met een sponnenweb stencil wat extra laagjes gemaakt. Daarna de de katten een bijpassend kleurtje gegeven en erop geplakt. En ik had een houten tekst meegenomen, dus ook die bijpassend gekleutd en erop geplakt. Ik denk dat ik het langst bezig was met de schaduwen om de katten te maken...

Last Thursday I brought with me the Gelliplate backgrounfd I'd made with the leaves. I also brought some cats I'd already die-cut out of watercolor paper. Whem I put those in my bag, I had no idea what I wanted tomake with them, but once I'd made a few things, I took one of the brightly colored backgrounds and added some extra layers with a spiderweb stencil. Then I coloted the cats in matching colors and glued them om.I also brought a wooden text, so I colored rgar ro match and glued that on. I think making the shadows for the cats took me the longest...

Dezelfde stempel en toch anders /The same stamp and still different

Soms heb ik eem stempel gebruikt en heb er gelijk een ander idee voor. of wil ik 'm meteen nog een keer gebruiken. Dat overkwam me met deze stempel. Gewoon weer op aquarelpapier en zelfs met dezelfde kleuren... en toch werd deze weer anders...

Sometimes I have used a stamp and immediately I got another idea with that stamp, or I just liked it so much that I want to use it again. That was what happened with this stamp. Just ysed it again on aquarel paper and even with the same colors... and still it came out different again...

CaS in het weekend 499 / CAS in the weekend 499

Dit is de 1 na laatste CaS in het weekend; hierna nog 1 en ik heb er 500 gemaakt en stop ik met de CaS in het weekend projecten. Ik vind 500 er meer dan genoeg... 

Dan vind je de CaS projecten gewoon tussendoor, maar niet meer persé in het weekend.

Ondertussen is het hier sinds donderdag steeds donker overdag; bewolkt en af en toe een beetje regen. Echt de donkere dagen van het jaar... ik kijk uit naar de 21ste van deze maand, omdat het van die dag af steeds weer lichter word. En om het daarnaar uitkijken wat makkelijker te maken, gebruikte ik vee; kleuren op dit project:

This is the second-to-last CAS in the weekend; one more after this one and I'll have made 500 and will quit the CAS in the weekend projects.

From than you can find the CAS projects on every day, but not nescessarrily in the weekend anymore...

In the mean while it is dark here during the day since Thursday; clouds and occasionally a bit of rain. Truly the darkest days of the year... I'm looking fprward to the 21 of this month, because from that day on, it will get lighter and lighter. And to make it a little easier to look forward to, I used lots of colors on this project:

Muis op zwart / Mouse on black

En dan denk je die muizen, die zouden het ook leuk moeten doen op een zwarte ondergrond. En dat doen ze ook! Alleen moet je niet zo'n dikke witte cirkel-lijn trekken als ik hierbij heb gedaan...

Dus deze gaat in mijn Art Journal waar ik allerlei technieken in uit probeer... 

Ik vond 'm te leuk om 'm niet te laten zien, dus bij deze:

And then you think; those mice would be looking good on a black background tpp. And they do! The only thing you must not do is drawing a bold white circle line like I did here...

So this one goes in my Art Journal in wich I try all kinds of techniques...

I just like this one too much to not show it...

Herfst / Autumn

Natuurlijk heb ik tijdens de 'Gelliplate-sessie' op een van de stempel donderdagmiddagen hele drukke achtergronden gemaakt. Maar ik probeer er ook altijd wat rustige achtergronden bij te maken die ik kan gebruiken in meer CaS ontwerpen. Dit is zo'n achtergrond. De uil stempel is er een die ik al even geleden echt niet kon weerstaan... Het blad en de uilvind ik echt bij elkaar passen vanwege al die kleurtjes en de textuur...

Of course I made very bussy backgrounds during the 'Gelliplate-sessie' on one of the stamping Thursday afternoon. But I always try to make some cleaner backgrounds in a sessie wich I can use in some more CAS designs. This is one of them. The owl stamp is one that I bought a while ago and couldn't resist... I think the leaf and the pwl fit so good together because of there colours and textures...

CaS in het weekend 498 / CAS in the weekend 498

Met het veranderen van het weer en het veelkorter worden van de dagen (nou ja minder licht-uren per dag) verdwijnt elk jaar ook even mijn 'mojo' en heb ik minder ideeën in mijn hoofd om te maken. Ik ben dan ook blij dat ik m'n kerstkaarten al af heb!

Het is herfst en dus ben ik gewoon aan de slag gegaan met dat thema. Deze stempel heb ik gewonnen en was vast van plan deze dit jaar nog te gebruiken. Dat is dus gelukt... Ik had zoveel lol bij het kleuren van deze. Gewoon met Distress Inkt, water en een kwast. Dat blijft toch mijn favoriete methode...

With the changing of the weather and the shorter days (well shorter light per day) each year my 'mojo' dissapears for a while and I have less ideas in my head for making projects. I'm so glad I have finished my Christmas cards!

It is fall, so I simply stuck with that theme. This stamp is one that I won and I was set on using it this year. That worked out fine... I had so much fun coloring this one. Simply with Distress Inkt, water and a brush. That stays my perferred methode foe coloring...

Stond ik gisteren bij de supermarkt met mijn moeder en we waren we de tomatenpasta vergeten. De mevrouw voor ons wees ons erop dat die verplaatst waren en terwijl ik daarna op zoek ging, zette zij niet alleen haar spullen op de lopende band, maar begon ook alvast aan die van ons; zo lief! En zo fijn om dan te ontdekken dat zij de eerste spullen in precies dezelfde volgorde erop had gezet als dat ik het altijd doe; de zware dingen eerst... Kijk zo word ik wat vrolijker tijdens de wat donkere dagen; er zijn mensen die net als ik van aanpakken houden en niet van staan te staren in de rij bij de kassa. En zo krijg ik ook weer wat meer vertrouwen in dat we het met z'n allen nog wel even kunnen redden op deze planeet!

Gelukkig zijn er heel wat mensen die de 'community' hier nog steeds steunen en een warm hart toedragen met posts en commentaren (in plaats van de duimpjes en hartjes elders) dus daarbinnen zijn we fijn op weg

I was at the grocery store yesterday with my mom and we had forgotten the tomato paste. The woman in front of us pointed out that they had moved the tomato paste and, while I went of looking for that, she not only put her groceries on the counter, but started to do the same with ours; so sweet! And than it was so good to discover that she put the first articles in exactly the same order as I always do; the heavier things first... That made that I felt a bit cheered up in these 'darker' days; there are people just like me who like to do things and don't like just to stare in the queu at the checkout. And that made that I have more faith in that we all together will live for a while longer on this planet!

Luckily there are a lot of people who still support the 'community' here and are very suppiotive with posts and comments (instead of thumbs and hearts elsewhere) so we are well in the way here.
